Studies have shown that mobile phone users generally avoid re-purchasing licensed content and subscriptions either because of the hassle involved, or simply because they don't think of doing it when they replace their phones.
Whatever the reason, according to one such recent study, only 13% of mobile phone users re-purchase their content after a phone replacement. Thus, in today's mobile market, content developers are actually hurt by phone upgrades. In a market where mobile phones are replaced on average once every 15 months, content developers need a solution to this problem.
Our solution
Synchronoss' Mobile Content Transfer solution wirelessly backs up the content in a user's mobile phone and automatically transfers the content when the user replaces or upgrades their mobile phone. An integral part of the Mobile Content Transfer solution is MightyBackup Content, a revolutionary new step in mobile content backup and transfer which helps content providers overcome this potential gap in their revenue streams.
With MightyBackup Content, purchased content such as music, ringtones, games, and other applications can be conveniently transferred when users replace their phones. MightyBackup Content works by saving a "Shadow List" of the user's purchased content. When a user then gets a new phone, the Shadow List is presented to the user and they can pick and choose which content they want to re-purchase for the new phone. MightyBackup Content works with content provided by members of the Synchronoss Content Developers Network.
